Softball Continues to Roll as they Sweep Ocelots; Tied for First in MCCAA East

Waterford, MI- It wasn't the warmest day, but that didn't stop the OCC softball team from going out and competing this afternoon as they took on MCCAA East conference opponent Schoolcraft College.
The Owls handled the Ocelots easily is game 1, winning 8-0 in 5 innings, and 11-3 in 6 innings for game 2. After today's wins, the Owls are sitting in a tie for first place in the East at 11-3, and have a record of 12-9 overall.
The big story for the Owls in game 1 was sophomore pitcher Elyssa Frezza who threw a 1-hit shutout as she pitched all 5 innings while striking out 7 Ocelot hitters. At the plate, the Owls were patient hitters as they managed to walk 9 times as a team. Sophomore outfielder Emma Borkowski led the Owls with 2 RBI's, while sophomore shortstop Elizabeth Pugh, sophomore first basemen Katelynn Perry, sophomore catcher Sam Patrick, and sophomore outfielder Sianna Hill all tallied RBI's for the Owls as well.
Game 2 saw no quite for the offense as everyone in the starting lineup ended their day with a hit, including Pugh, Frezza, and Hill who had multi-hit performances. Pugh, Frezza, and Patrick also had 2 RBI's a piece. Perry got the nod on the mound in this one and went 4 innings while only allowing 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 2. Frezza finished the job for the Owls as she entered the game in relief and put in 2 innings of work, only giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 3.
The Owls next contest will be this Friday when they'll visit Macomb Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 3pm.
