OCC Hires Steve Himmelsbaugh as new Men's Golf Coach
Auburn Hills, MI- The Oakland Community College Athletic Department has officially announced the hiring of the Owls newest Men's Golf coach, Steve Himmelsbaugh.
Himmelsbaugh, a first-time head coach at the college level, is very excited for the opportunity. "I'm honored to step into the role of Head Coach for the Oakland Community College Golf Team," said Himmelsbaugh. "OCC Athletics has a proud tradition of excellence, and I'm grateful to Athletic Director Jamie Corona and Coach Rick Coatta for their trust and support in giving me this opportunity.
"Coach Rick left some big shoes to fill, and I'm committed to building on the strong foundation he established. My focus will be on serving our student-athletes and fostering a culture that supports their growth both academically and athletically. Achieving our goals will require hard work, determination, and resilience—but we'll also enjoy the journey, compete with gratitude, and form lasting friendships along the way."
Prior to OCC, Himmelsbaugh spent the last 7 years as the Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Golf team at Romeo High School, where they were 5-time State Finalists and 2-time Conference Champions during his tenure. He also has spent the last 2 years as an assistant coach for the Men's and Women's Golf program at neighboring 4-year institution Rochester Christian University.
